PERFORMER

I believe that entertaining an audience is the most compelling reason I am placed in front of them. They are seldom interested in hearing songs they don’t know, but are usually delighted to hear their favorites in my style. This is basically my mission statement as a performer.

I’ve always felt that it’s most important to tell the story of a song, therefore I pay a great deal of attention to the words, and how they are annunciated. I’m not afraid to try a song in a completely new setting or arrangement. I search for the new and as-yet-undiscovered every time I perform.

I have been performing as a singing pianist for decades with loyal followings in New York City (Hasting’s, Top Of The Gate, Dr. Generosity’s, Sixish, Churchill’s), Los Angeles (Sunset Hyatt, Airport Hyatt, Venice’s Sidewalk Cafe, Nora's), and the Bay Area (Sonoma Mission Inn, Grand Hilton, Joe LoCoco's Ristorante, Saylor’s Landing, Saylor’s Restaurant, Bing Crosby’s Restaurant and Piano Lounge, Izzy’s Steak House Danville, Martuni’s Piano Bar, The Curtain Call).

My experience as an accompanist started as an early teen, playing for various singers in Boston. As I entered the band scene I kept-up my work in bars and restaurants where people always delighted in my adding my own voice to songs. Having worked with several of the great singers of our time (Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Jesse Colin Young, Tim Hardin, and Jonathan Edwards) I developed a personal style influenced by those associations. Some other influences on me are Mose Allison, Ray Charles, Dr. John, and Richie Havens.

I often appear on my own, as a one man band (complete with many different instrumental sounds, plus bass and drums), and with groups of musicians. The types of parties at which I have played include weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, anniversaries, birthdays, fund-raisers, art shows, and just "garden variety" personal house parties.

I can make your party fly like no other entertainer you’ve ever hired! I’ll even write a personal theme song for the occasion. You and your guests will have the time of their lives!
