I believe that entertaining an audience is the most compelling reason I am placed in front of them. They are seldom interested in hearing songs they don’t know, but are usually delighted to hear their favorites in my style. This is basically my mission statement as a performer.
I have been performing as a singing pianist for decades with loyal followings in New York City, Los Angeles, and the widely over the San Francisco Bay Area. (I was the featured musician at Joe LoCoco’s Ristorante, in Greenbrae, for twelve years.) I have performed regularly at Marin Joe’s, Sam’s Place, Izzy’s Steakhouse in San Ramon.
My experience as an accompanist started as an early teen, playing for various singers in Boston. As I entered the band scene I kept-up my work in bars and restaurants where people were always delighted when I added my own voice to songs. Having worked with several of the great singers of our time (Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Jesse Colin Young, Tim Hardin, and Jonathan Edwards) I developed a personal style influenced by those associations. Some of my other influences are Mose Allison, Ray Charles, Dr. John, and Richie Havens.
I often appear alone, as a one man band (complete with many different instrumental sounds, plus bass and drums), and with groups of musicians. The type of event at which I play includes weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, anniversaries, birthdays, fund-raisers, art shows, and just "garden variety" personal house parties.
I can make your party fly like no other entertainer. I’ll even write a song for the occasion. You and your guests will have the time of your lives.
I also have vast experience as a performer and accompanist in churches, synagogues, memorial services, and other occasions of spirit and solemnity. I regularly perform at Temple Rodef Shalom and Unity in Marin, located at the former Hamilton Air Force Base.
